"Never Think" ~ Robert Pattinson

posted Friday, 26 December 2008

Two Holiday's past and it's a week before New Year's.

Thanksgiving was great. My cousin Annie came into town and we did plenty of tourist things I've been wanting to do. We went to the Garden of the Gods on a hiking trip, visited the aquarium and the zoo. My work was great about hours. I got to leave early and spend more time with Annie. It was really sad when she left though....

Since then it's just been work work work. We've had auditors in town so there's been plenty of little special projects to keep me busy. Things may be changing very soon though and it sounds like for the worst. Our head of A/P got let go a week before christmas... seriously low blow. I like her a lot. She did the tough job. She managed an entirely new business center and went through 3 mass mergers with a total of about 12 new companies. They're bringing in a new manager this coming Monday. I haven't heard very good things about her. Two current employees worked with her in the past and one quit because of her management style. The other was fired... I think. This does not bode well for our tight knit group. We'll find out on Monday.

With the help of Bri I've gotten emersed into the world of Twilight and I love it. Hahaha. It's ridiculous, it's embarrassing, and I couldn't put the books down. I know perfectly well that I'm reading mormon porn but they're perfect for what they were made for. They aren't well written novels. They don't have deep character development and the story is leaps and bounds away from any original thought. I have good proof that she stole more than a few bits from L.J. Smith's Night World series (which I've loved since 1997). But none of that matters because it's my trashy pleasure. The books portray exactly what's in a 'tortured' teenage girl's fantasy. I swear that 1/4 of the book talks about some part or all parts of Edward's body. Completely cringe worthy but still fun. I read the first book right before Bri and I saw the movie. My dad got me the last 3 books as a christmas present but had them sent a few weeks early. I finished those 3 books within a week.... I read a lot...... Definitely too quickly so I'll need to read them again sometime. They're a great pick me up. A sappy love story where there's little conflict and you get everything you ever wanted with almost no hurdles. Who wouldn't want that? Thanks definitely go to my former college roommate for suggesting it. It took me a while to warm up to the idea of reading a kiddy harlequin romance novel but I took to it. Now of course I wish there were more. At least I've got the Night World books to re-read.

So, as you can see my life's been super interesting. Other than reading and watching movies, I go hang out with Bri and her friends for happy hour's and dinners. It's an easy going life and I'm still very much enjoying it. It's snowed a few times and it's started to get pretty freezing everyday. Oh, I'm still cooking a bunch but I laxed around Christmas time. That was a bit sad. This was the first Christmas I've been away from my family. In fact, I was away from everyone. K went back to VA on Saturday and I took Bri to the airport on tuesday night. I spent xmas eve and day with little oliver. It was hard but not as bad as I thought. I missed my friends and family a lot. Thanks to Sheila I did have one present under my xmas tree. I definitely got a lot of cool loot over the last couple weeks. I did get to hear from my friends and family which was nice. I spent a little bit of xmas eve on the phone with my family gathered at my uncle's house. The Glidden's called me on christmas day while they opened their presents. Dusty's presents were mostly courtesy of my great ideas...because I'm the awesomest bff ever. That and I really want to play time crisis when I get home.

Just one and a half days of work left before I get on a plane to go visit VA!!! I can't wait. I'm devoting this weekend to packing and getting everything ready for my trip. My apartment will be spotless for Bri and Oliver. She's taking care of him while I'm away. I'll get him plenty of food and treats. I'm going to miss him a lot. I've got a few last minute presents to pick up too. 4 more days... 4 more days... I have most of my trip planned which is good and bad. I don't want it to go by quickly. I'll arrive very late at night on Tuesday and leave the following tuesday. No beach house this year for us. Dusty and I are headed to Shaun's party and then I think we'll leave the next day. I'm supposed to see my aunt before she leaves, my family of course, sheila and meredith, then my college roommates. I really wish it was going to be longer trip. I don't know when I'll be back after that. I was supposed to combine the vacation with a business trip but things became too hectic, especially with the new boss coming in, that I think that will be postponed. I should get back to oliver anyhow.

That's all to report..... till next time.
