So, I left off at Halloween. I managed to see my parents each day for a meal or so. I spent the rest of my visit in NOVA at the Gliddens. One day I did get to hang out at my cousins house for a few hours. My cousin Annie is going to come spend thanksgiving with me. At least I'll be with someone for that holiday. Really wish I had the time to take off. Still don't know what I'll do for Christmas. I know my co workers will be taking time off so I think I may be on my own at work. This time I did do the wings group thing my last night. I think eating lobster might become a last night tradition for me. After voting on election day I went to my manicure/pedicure appointment with Sheila and Meredith. I didn't do much else other than spend time with my mom. She took me to the airport and off I went back to Denver. The flight time was shortened due to good winds. We landed in CO right before midnight and the first announcement was that our new President would be Barack Obama! I was too exhausted to fully celebrate but I managed a cheer. I still missed NoVA and it was just as difficult to go but I was happy to see my Oliver. It's strange, when I got back to NoVA I had conflicting back and forth feelings - that I hadn't actually left but also that it was strange to be back.
Since I'd missed Halloween with my co workers we decided to do a costume party theme for our Saturday house party. One of my co workers is going through a divorce and has just sold her house. She wanted to do a last hoorah party so I went to planning. Sent out a snazzy evite and divided up what we needed among the guests. We were supposed to have a limit to the booze. Tequila and Rum for margaritas and rum runners. Best laid plans of course..... Oh there was plenty of tequila but vodka and beer joined the race. Soon the shots started flowing and the party was on. Everybody was having a great time till the drama started....lol. Exorcist type vomit EVERYWHERE in two bathrooms.. blah, married people in cars disappeared (um not married to each other), and other random stumbling fun. We started out so wholesome too... we played a lot of rock band. It definitely got kinda out of hand and way more craziness that anyone expected but it was a really good time. It was kinda like my co workers stepped into my last two years of college coupled with some of the stories i'd heard about radford. oy crazy. Good times. I certainly slept in great length after that. Luckily, I had a whole day to recover. I think some people needed a few more. I can't wait for the next party! Actually, i suppose it could be considered tame. Or at least not as bad as it could be... no one got in the hot tub... hehe
Ok so I'm sure you've figured out by now work is my savior, my life line. I really hope nothing much changes because I really love my job. The ridiculous amount of free food is kinda annoying but it's really not something to complain about .... just troublesome for the not annorexic. Really fun environment. Accountants know how to party in style. :)
I've started to learn how to cook in CO! Nothing too extravagant but it's more than what I'm used to, a.k.a heating up a tv dinner or leftover chinese. I've successfully made two filipino dishes. I try cooking a bunch on sunday and then packing it up for the rest of the week. I've even made some kick ass salads with my own marinated chicken. mmmm lemon pepper garlic chicken. I'm trying. I'll do lunch out a lot because my co workers want to go but it's my cooking for dinner and on weekends. I've definitely mastered the art of ramen. I found a SuperH Mart in CO (You have no idea how excited I was went I found it) and got a lot of soup ingredients and such to add to the ramen. I make it japanese style. Not just what's in the package. It makes for a very awesome meal. It helped me through the flu. The altitude and weather change have hurt me. I've been sick twice since I've been here. I think I'm still on VA time too. I get tired a lot earlier. That probably has to do with the fact that I wake up so much earlier that I'm use to. Denver Teresa goes to bed before midnight, wakes up early to shower, gets to work by 8, AND actually talks to people in a pleasant manner in the morning WITHOUT coffee. It's insane. haha
Not much has gone on since I came back from NOVA. Right before the costume party I started feeling sick. Monday morning it was full blown flu. A few of my co workers started the symptoms days earlier than me. Last week was terrible. My throat felt like sandpaper every morning and I sneezed all day. It was rough coming to work everyday but somehow I made it. I had a lot of pho soup that week, plenty of drugs, and a whole lot of sleep. A week later I had finally regained some normalcy. I wanted a relaxing weekend though. Bri and I decided to do movie nights. Friday was the girly movies; P.S. I love you and Kung Fu Panda. I loved both of those movies! Kung Fu Panda was awesome. I bought it the second I got home.. it's just taking a shipping detour in VA. Dusty needs to see that movie.
Stu's co worker Nia has been in town but is staying in Boulder. We made plans to hang out on saturday afternoon. I picked her up from middle of no where boulder and headed back to civilization Denver. We had dinner at a sushi place and instead of just hanging out she wanted to go for a walk..... I knew she was a bit nuts when we met back in VA but I didn't know she was flat out crazy for walking. lol. We went on a two and a half hour walk of downtown denver at night. Luckily, it wasn't too cold. My legs were burning at the end. The walk to the 16th street mall wasn't so bad but the walk back was up hill so that hurt. I believe we covered about 6miles. Thank god we kept stopping for her pictures. In the middle of the day and not after a meal at a leisurely pace it wouldn't have been so bad but it was just go go go right after dinner. Blah, i was not moving after that. I dropped her off at her friend's place in the city and crashed. I got off easy though. The poor girl she stayed with had to get up early and they ended up walking an ungodly four hours. My body hurts just thinking about it. Anyway, Sunday was more of a scary movie night. One missed call and the exorcism of emily rose. really really creepy....
Only a week and a half till thanksgiving. I can't wait to see Annie!
