"Don't look back in anger" ~ Oasis

posted Friday, 13 March 2009

Middle of March now and even though it's been a month and a half I feel like I've lived a year.

Feb was pretty amazing. I became a lot closer to the film school friends I made through K. Isaac and Paul... they're roommates and very good friends of K. I helped them both celebrate their Feb birthday's and now have an on-going PRESIDENTE margarita meetings. They're very important...lol.

Paul's birthday was first. He cooked us breakfast for dinner and we all went drunk bowling... the only possible way to make bowling fun. Isaac's birthday was much more of a production. He rented out the Denver Starz theater so that we could all watch Die Hard. I hadn't ever seen it on the big screen before. I believe I was 5 when it came out.... haha. Afterwards, those of us who were 21 headed over to Armida's, Isaac's favorite karaoke bar. Paul and I closed out the night and the bar with my title song. Great times.

The best thing about that birthday weekend is that the first before the movie night Tiffani came into town to visit!! I took a half day so we could hang out. She was in town from Friday to Monday. We had a ridiculously awesome time. So much so that she decided to move to Colorado within 2 hours of being in town. Friday, I took her to the 16th street mall and on a driving tour of Denver. The real treat was something I had put into works the night before. I heard from K that the Reverend Maynard James Keenan (the lead singer of TOOL and A Perfect Circle was coming to town with his vineyard business partner to a local Wholefoods to sell is wine and sign autographs!! Now this is enough to flip your shit (and flip I did) in two ways. One: There aren't many ways to buy his wine. You can go to the vineyard in Arizona or you can live in one of the lucky states that his vineyard sells too. People on the east coast are outta luck cause he only services the west. Two (and most important): He doesn't sign autographs... ever. So this is nice and rare. I showed up the first day with Paul and Matt but the line had filled to capacity by the time I'd gotten there. It had only been open a half hour. I found the head of the line and inquired about the next day. They were handing out tickets for a place in line for the final day of the wine signing. I took two and headed on my merry way. Tiffani joined me the next day for the event. We weren't allowed to bring camera's or bags. We had our coats checked before we could even go into the same room. You'd have thought he was some sort of political figure people wanted to assassinate. Security was a little much but we got through in less than an hour. The people at Wholefoods did a good job of keeping everyone in check and in order. There were supposed to be 6 different types of wine on sale but by the time we got there only 1 bottle was left. Tiffani and I bought two bottles each, all of them signed. We met up with the birthday boy for dinner and consumed much wine later that night. All of saturday was spent in recovery before the movie and karaoke.

Sunday was the real tourist adventure. I took Tiffani to the Coors factory, lunch in Golden CO, and a visit to Red Rocks amphitheater. I'd been to Golden and the factory before but Red Rocks is a new addition to my CO map. It's concert venue up carved in a mountain. It's so freaking beautiful. I can't wait to see a concert there... we took tons of pictures the whole weekend but those were my favorite. We saw a wedding happening on the grounds right after I'd decided I wanted to have my own wedding there. I'm pretty sure that visit sealed the deal on Tiffani's decision to move. We went to dinner with Bri and JIB then Monday was her last day. We had enough time to get thai for lunch then to the airport. I was sad to see her go but she'll be back soon enough. She's already started making the arrangements to move. She's contacted apartment complexes in the area and I can help her with the job search.

It was a short first week of March cause that Friday I flew out to VA for Dusty's surprise birthday party!!

I'm under the weather so it's time to go to bed. I'll pick up the day before my trip to VA .....
